Marlon Brando in Terrible Movie

It’s bad that De Niro, one of the greatest method actors of his generation, has appeared in so many terrible roles. It’s a tragedy that the most influential actor of the 20th century, period, spent so much of his career doing the same thing. Marlon Brando had a unique talent for method acting which he spent most of his life squandering in trashy movies. In between brilliant performances in On the Waterfront, The Godfather and Apocalypse Now, he appeared in sexploitation dramas like Reflections in a Golden Eye, dreck such as The Island of Dr. Moreau, and utterly forgettable flicks like The Formula — the latter thanks to cases of money being literally delivered to his trailer every day. Brando claimed he “hated acting” and hardly seemed to care what films he appeared in so long as he got paid; he was more interested in supporting Native American rights and other political causes. That’s all very well, but think of how many classic performances we’ve missed today because of him being lazy…
