Shah Rukh Khan Free-bies Help Him Get Tech Savvy

Shah Rukh Khan reveals that he is pretty tech savvy and uses all technology- related products that he endorses, after all he gets them for free, says the actor!
Shah Rukh's sense of humor at pressers is well known, and he was just being himself when he talked about the free-bies at a recent endorsement event for Videocon New Age LED TVs.
Speaking to the media, the 46-year-old star said he tries to keep up with the advancement of technology, but confesses sometimes he also takes help from his children to use high-tech gadgets.
When asked if he personally uses all items in real life, he said:
"I personally use all the products I endorse. After all, I get them in free," he joked.
"But I take up only those endorsements where I am satisfied as a consumer so that I can recommend them to my audience too."
His newest gadgets? - Beats Wireless headphones and Astro Gaming A50 Wireless Headset for video games online.
On another note, Shah Rukh showed his new makeover, a French beard, when he appeared for the product launch on August 14. Perhaps his look for the climax filming of Yash Chopra's next, currently known as Production # 45.
He is soon headed to Ladakh for filming of a ten-day schedule. Part of the schedule will also be shot in Kashmir.
Good to know one actor who only stands behind products he believes in!

Katrina Kaif's Ramzaan Treat With Ek Tha Tiger Family

Katrina Kaif treated herself to some Ramzaan speciality festive food at a South Mumbai's Mohammad Ali Road eatery, along with Salman Khan's sisters, director Kabir Khan, and his wife Mini Mathur Thursday night, August 10.
The place has Chandini Chowk style small 'gullies' where foodies throng for choicest dishes, specially during the month of Ramzaan.
Katrina was dressed modestly in an off-white churidaar set with her hair left down and natural face make-up.
A source told Mid-Day:
"Kat convinced director Kabir Khan and his wife Mini Mathur to accompany her. Incidentally, her former beau Salman Khan's sisters Alvira and Arpita too were spotted with Katrina."
"The group gorged on food and sweets. However, a huge crowd surrounded them soon. Thankfully, they got out safely."
Sounds like the "Kat" had a feast!

Rosalinda Celentano in The Passion of the Christ

Rosalinda Celentano in The Passion of the Christ
Rosalinda Celentano in The Passion of the Christ
Hell hath no fury like a woman’s scorn. Rosalinda Celentano is the only female to occupy our top ten by breaking the sexy Satan stereotype and scaring the bejesus out of well, er, Jesus, in Mel “have another drink” Gibson’s 2004 God romp, The Passion of the Christ. Dressed in all black, she tries to tempt Christ in a deep, croaky and downright eerie voice in the movie’s opening scene, seeming that bit scarier by speaking in Aramaic. Her performance is so sinister and androgynous, we are left wondering if she could indeed be the Prince of Darkness himself.

Al Pacino in The Devil’s Advocate

Al Pacino in The Devil’s Advocate
Al Pacino in The Devil’s Advocate
Say hello to my little friend! It was a tough choice between Huston and Pacino for second and third, but Pacino steals it for his enthralling performance as law firm boss John Milton, alongside Keanu Reeves in 1997′s The Devil’s Advocate. Pacino gives Reeves the best satanic rant about God ever recorded on film. His character’s name was derived from the author of “Paradise Lost,” a poem on the fall of man, in case you didn’t know. Pacino’s Satan has it all. Lust, rage and manipulation – you name it. What makes his performance even better is that quite a few of his lines were improvised.

Walter Huston in The Devil and Daniel Webster

Walter Huston in The Devil and Daniel Webster
Walter Huston in The Devil and Daniel Webster
Walter Huston earned an Oscar nomination for his role as Mr Scratch in one of the earliest deals with the devil captured on film, 1941′s The Devil and Daniel Webster. He enters the pact with a 19th century farmer, who enlists notorious statesman Daniel Webster to discharge the agreement. Huston’s conniving grin and manipulative tactics have helped this rural devil stand the test of time. Al Pacino even studied Huston’s performance when himself taking up the role of the Dark Lord. The film also inspired a 2004 remake with Jenifer Love Hewitt as the fallen angel, but she doesn’t come close to emulating Huston’s classic portrayal.

Tim Curry in Legend

Tim Curry in Legend
Tim Curry in Legend
Curry has to take the top prize for his sizzling performance as the traditional red monster in Ridley Scott’s fantasy classic Legend. Curry sports cloven hooves, fangs and monstrous horns as he looks to massacre unicorns to stop the sun from ever shining again. Evil enough for you? His low sinister voice and maniacal laugh have been frightening the crap out of children since the film was made in the mid-Eighties, 1985 to be precise. Of all the devil’s on the list, it’s Curry’s Lucifer that you would least like to run into down a dark alley.

Tom Waits in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

Tom Waits in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Tom Waits in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus
Veteran bluesman Tom Waits plays the slick Mr Nick in Terry Gilliam’s 2009 fantasy adventure The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. His charismatic incarnation, complete with bowler hat and quellazaire, places a bet with Dr Parnasuss, the head of a traveling troupe, that the first to capture five souls will take as his prize the doctor’s 16-year-old daughter. Waits purrs his lines and makes his Satan cool enough to turn the whole of hell into Antarctica. He adopted a similar persona in the music video for his song “God’s Away On Business,” where he dons the black umbrella used in the film.

Gabriel Byrne in End of Days

Gabriel Byrne in End of Days
Gabriel Byrne in End of Days
Not the greatest of films, End of Days, but Irishmen Gabriel Byrne steals the show with his performance as a cool, calm and lustful Satan. Here the archfiend possesses that bastion of all things evil – a Wall Street banker. In his human form, he looks to impregnate the woman chosen to bear his child. But there’s a catch. She has a protector, and it’s none other than Terminator-turned-politician Arnold Schwarzenegger. Byrne boosts his evil credentials by setting a man on fire and indulging in a mother/daughter threesome – the lucky devil. 1999 was an evil year all round for Byrne, who also starred in the supernatural horror Stigmata.

Jack Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick

Jack Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick
Jack Nicholson in The Witches of Eastwick
Jack Nicholson and the devil seem the perfect fit given the veteran’s devilish smile in movies like The Shining. And Jack doesn’t disappoint in the 1987 comic horror The Witches of Eastwick. In trademark mischievous style, his womanizing Satan, Daryl Van Horne, seduces three desperate housewives, played by Susan Sarandon, Micelle Pfeiffer and Cher. The three women also experience the flamboyant devil’s wrath after trying to rid him with witchcraft, leading to a deranged tirade from Jack about God and women at a packed church congregation. A truly horny devil.

Robert De Niro in Angel Heart

Robert De Niro in Angel Heart
Robert De Niro in Angel Heart
In Angel Heart (1987), Robert De Niro’s Satan operates under the cleverly worded pseudonym Louis Cyphre – that’s Lucifer for those who missed it. The elegant Cyphre hires a private investigator, played by a pre-plastic surgery Mickey Rourke, to find a man who has failed to honor his contract – no prizes for guessing what that means. De Niro looks decidedly ominous with his stylish beard, long slicked back hair and manicured fingernails, which he uses to perform the creepiest cracking of a boiled egg in cinematic history. Despite the odd demonic gaze, De Niro remains menacing throughout without even having to lose his temper.

Peter Stormare in Constantine

Peter Stormare in Constantine
Peter Stormare in Constantine
Ah, Constantine. A below-par movie, released in 2005, brightened up by a sick-looking Dark Lord. Yes, here we find the infernal serpent in a crisp white suit looking as though he hasn’t slept for centuries. Swedish thespian Peter Stormare gives his devil a creepy lisp and diabolical swagger in another of Hollywood’s comic book movies. He burns the wings of the angel Gabriel, and you know he must be a real badass when he harvests the soul of Matrix chosen one Keanu Reeves, who plays detective John Constantine.

Viggo Mortensen in The Prophecy

Viggo Mortensen in The Prophecy
Viggo Mortensen in The Prophecy
In this cameo as the Dark Lord in The Prophecy (1995), Viggo Mortensen manages to out-evil Christopher “crazy eyes” Walken and even eats his heart. His sinister, witty and articulate Lucifer offers a young female schoolteacher a choice: “I can lay you out and fill your mouth with your mother’s feces, or we can talk.” She chooses the chat. To further demonstrate just how dark he is, he takes his anger out on the surrounding flora by eating one of God’s creations, a yellow rose. The Lord would not be happy. Neither would Gandalf.

Eric Show

Eric Show
Eric Show
Eric Show has been described as “the winningest pitcher in San Diego Padres history,” but the sportsman also faced terrible battles with drug addiction and alienation. The child of an abusive father, Show began drinking early, got into a pistol-packing confrontation at a party while still a college student, and was pressurized into following a baseball career. When he became a part of the Padres squad he was regarded as an eccentric by most of his team members for things like joining the John Birch Society, reading Ayn Rand novels and (probably accidentally) hitting a fellow baseball player on the cheekbone with a ball during a game. After his retirement from baseball in 1990, he quickly took to abusing drugs such as cocaine, heroin and crystal meth, and eventually died from a heart attack after taking a speedball, on March 16, 1994 — ironically whilst in rehab.

King George V of Great Britain

King George V of Great Britain
King George V of Great Britain
A King of Great Britain is not the first person you would think of as a major drug fiend. The crusty old monarch was chronically ill with lung disease for several years, but his death is believed to have been accelerated when his personal physician, Lord Dawson of Penn, stupidly gave him a mixed dose of cocaine and morphine. This man is definitely a contrast with the other people in this list (for one thing, being a royal, he had no discernible talent!), but it just goes to show that, even in the 1930s, speedballing was a problem.

John Belushi

John Belushi
John Belushi
Belushi, Belushi, Belushi. The Saturday Night Live actor and star of movies like The Blues Brothers and Animal House was a charismatic comic genius, but also a substance-obsessed wild man who was just as crazy as characters like his iconic frat boy Bluto. He did alcohol, heroin and pills in huge quantities, and sadly it killed him very early in life. His body was found by his personal trainer in his room in West Hollywood after he suffered a speedball overdose on March 5, 1982. Ex-backup singer and groupie Cathy Smith later admitted to administering the dose and was subsequently charged with manslaughter, serving 15 months in jail. Belushi died at the age of only 33, and it’s terrible to imagine how many years of brilliant comedy were lost through that drug overdose. It’s even worse to think that’s probably how Bluto would have ended up if he were a real person. Damn, not even a “Toga! Toga! Toga!” can make that picture less depressing now…

Hillel Slovak

Hillel Slovak
Hillel Slovak
Hillel Slovak (far right) was the original hard-rocking lead guitarist of the hedonistic funk band The Red Hot Chili Peppers. His improvisational style helped to create the distinctive sound of early RHCP, and he also taught the band’s fourth member, Flea, to play bass. Unfortunately, he and good friend Anthony Kiedis were also major, long-term heroin users. Kiedis eventually managed to kick the drug, but Slovak struggled more with withdrawal, and continued to slide further into addiction and isolation from the band. In June 1988 he OD’d in his house and was found two days later by the police. The guitarist’s death, and Kiedis’ own struggles with drug addiction, would later inspire several Chili Peppers songs, including “My Lovely Man” from the band’s seminal 1991 album Blood Sugar Sex Magik.

Brent Mydland

Brent Mydland
Brent Mydland
Sasquatch lookalike Brent Mydland was the longest-term keyboardist for the Grateful Dead, serving from 1979 to 1990. His distinctive psychedelic rock sound and terrific song-writing contributions quickly made him an indispensable part of the band, explaining his longevity compared to many of the other members (the band went through 12 lineup changes in their 30-year career). In 1990, however, Mydland was found in his home, dead from a heroin/cocaine overdose, aged just 37. He had just come off tour.

River Phoenix

River Phoenix
River Phoenix
River Phoenix rose to fame as the character of Gordie in classic coming-of-age movie Stand by Me, and developed into a teen heartthrob and a promising actor. Following his breakout film role, the oldest Phoenix brother moved into more mature territory with his Academy Award-nominated role in Running on Empty as well as box office hits like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. The young idol had something of a squeaky-clean image as an activist and charity worker, which is why, perhaps, it was so shocking to the general public when, on October 30, 1993, he was found suffering from seizures on the sidewalk outside Hollywood’s Viper Room, after taking large amounts of cocaine and heroin (as well as other drugs such as diazepam, ephedrine). The actor was rushed to hospital but could not be resuscitated and was pronounced dead, aged just 23. Who would have thought that Gordie would end up in such straights?

Chris Farley

Chris Farley
Chris Farley
In the late 90s, Chris Farley’s career was reaching its peak. He had been one of the top Saturday Night Live performers of the decade, where he’d brought a frat-boy charm to characters like the depressive motivational speaker Matt Foley and chunky Chippendales dancer Barney. His movie career was also beginning to take off, with roles in films such as Wayne’s World and Dreamworks’ Shrek (for which he had recorded nearly 90% of the dialogue for the title character). However, like John Belushi before him, he had numerous problems with drug and alcohol abuse, and his life was tragically cut short by a fatal cocktail of morphine and cocaine in his home in Chicago’s John Hancock Center in December 1997. It seems that just as 27 is an unlucky age for rock stars, 33 is an unlucky age for SNL actors…

Ken Caminiti

Ken Caminiti
Ken Caminiti
Ken Caminiti was a baseball player for several Major League teams including the Houston Astros and San Diego Padres (a cursed team, it seems, of which more later), the winner of three Golden Glove awards, and the 1996 National League MVP. He was also an admitted steroid and hard drug user who struggled with addiction throughout his life. He not only abused heroin; he was also a serious drinker who went into rehab several times, once after being arrested for possession of cocaine and ordered to get treatment by a Houston judge. On October 5, 2004, Caminiti was sentenced to 180 days in jail after violating his probation by testing positive for cocaine. His “death by speedball” came just five days after the sentence and following a period of depression; a major contributing factor was the size of his heart, which had been enlarged by years of substance abuse.
