Malcolm McDowell’s problem was he peaked too early as an actor: he delivered great performances as antiheroes in movies like If and O Lucky Man! but couldn’t keep doing it convincingly after his good looks faded. After playing the iconic sociopath Alex from A Clockwork Orange he never managed to equal the performances he gave in his early roles again, and ended up typecast as the poor man’s Anthony Hopkins, appearing mainly in bad movies like Tank Girl and the Halloween remake. On the plus side, his versatility has helped him to become a very successful TV actor with regular roles in shows like Heroes and Entourage. Still, Malc, it’s no excuse…
