Dane Cook “Sorry” for Theater Shooting Joke

Dane Cook admits he used “bad judgment” when he joked about last week’s movie theater massacre in Colorado during a recent standup gig in Los Angeles. James Holmes, a troubled science whiz from San Diego, has been charged with killing 12 people and wounding more than 50 others when he opened fire in an Aurora multiplex where the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy — The Dark Knight Rises — was airing in a midnight screening.
During a show in Los Angeles on Thursday night, Cook quipped that the movie is so bad, audience members would have been begging for someone to shoot them had the massacre not happened. On Friday, the comic took to his Twitter to express his regret regarding the remark:

“I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado and did not mean to make light of what happened. I made a bad judgment call with my material last night and regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families and friends of the victims.”
