Mere months after her OWN talk show was axed by Madame Oprah herself, Rosie O’Donnell has learned that her fiancee is battling a rare cancer-like disease.

Rosie’s other half Michelle Rounds has been diagnosed with desmoid tumors. The 50-year-old comedian made the announcement via a poem published on her blog Friday.
The condition first became noticeable in around Mothers’ Day. O’Donnell describes the dilemma as doctors struggled to identify the disease, until Rounds’ eventual diagnosis. The star calls it a “beyond rare” disease that isn’t cancer but “acts cancerous.” There are only 900 new cases a year in the USA.
O’Donnell writes:
“Again and again, her pain grew worse. It seemed impossible. No one knew what was wrong. Life changes in an instant. We wander thru the maze of medical mystery confused — scared…undiagnosed — again and again, her pain grew worse. It seemed impossible no one knew what was wrong.”
The former talk-show host said her partner of more than a year is “recovering from surgery in June” and “getting stronger every day.” In lieu of gifts, the couple has requested that donations be made to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation.
Rosie and Michelle announced their engagement late last December and plan to wed next summer.
