Team USA Take Gold in Men’s Basketball

The 2012 Men’s USA Basketball team went into the 4th quarter of the Gold Medal game against Spain with just a 1 point lead. After a hard-fought game and the reigning NBA MVP on the bench with 4 fouls, Coach K looked to his team and asked them to dig deep, and bring home another Gold Medal.
With 30 seconds left in the game, Coach K pulled his starters, allowing them to take in the moment and receive a standing ovation from the USA-heavy crowd. Kevin Durant finished the game with 30 points, Lebron had 19 and Chris Paul’s leadership helped seal the victory over Spain, for the second consecutive Olympic Games.
“We knew it wasn’t going to be easy. We didn’t want it easy,” James said. “A lot of teams have won gold easy. We didn’t want it that way. We’re a competitive team and we love when it gets tight. That’s when our will and determination kind of shows. It was the same way in ’08.”
