McKayla Maroney |
Maroney stuck her first vault, the same one she did turn the final team competition, earning a 15.866 – the top score of the day. As the California native attempted to land her second vault, she sipped on the landing, earning just a 14.3. The fall was just enough for Romania’s Sandra Izbasa to sneak by Maroney and take home the Gold.
Insiders say that Maroney could possibly return to the Women’s team in four years in Rio and possibly have another shot at an individual Gold but only time will tell. Maroney came into the Olympics as the top vaulter in the world, and current World Champion.
