We're all used to seeing Kate at various red carpet events, smiling for the cameras. Most people don't realize that the wife of the future king of England could also give Martha Stewart a run for her money.
Here are some little-known facts about the 30-year-old royal:
She rules the kitchen in their seaside cottage, where the couple do not keep any household staff. William has gone on quote as saying, "When I come back from work, cooking is the last thing I want to do." Kate cannot only make a great English roast, but she's an ace at jam too. She's been known go on a grocery run at their local Waitrose market, as well as Tesco, where she picks up milk, vegetables, and the ever-necessary pint of Haagen-Dazs.
Not only does Kate like to cook for William, but she doesn't mind doing it for children either. Just a few weeks back, she held a summer barbeque for the Scouts of her local area. Thrown on the beach, Kate cooked burgers for her young guests as well as teaching them how to do some crabbing and gutting fish. What makes it even more impressive is that she is not one of their official patrons, but she likes to get involved with them whenever she can.
Kate's another case of puppy love, as evidenced by her going to the beach every morning with the 8-month-old black cocker spaniel Lupo owned by her and William.
As for furnishing their home, an insider tells Us Weekly that she has "turned their house into quite the little haven." She was recently photographed at the upscale London boutique Turnell & Gigon Group, where La Catherine snapped up a few cushions and fabrics for herself. It isn't clear whether her purchases were for the new apartment in Kensington Palace or their home base in Wales.
Kate likes to make the most of her off-time with William when they aren't appearing at royal engagements. A palace staff member informs Us magazine that "Catherine enjoys being at home." She and William entertain themselves by watching DVD's of shows The Killing, Game of Thrones, and Homeland back-to-back.
As if all that wasn't enough, Kate's not above sharing a PDA with her tall prince at the London Olympics. The two, watching the cycling competition and rooting for Team GB, got so caught up in the emotion that they hugged.
Looks like William's picked a winner!
