| US Men’s Water Polo defeats Montenegro 8-7 |
The men’s polo team of course won a Silver in Beijing but have been held without a medal in all international play. Montenegro finished as a runner-up in the Euro-Championship last year.
Montenegro made it close at the end of the match on a great passing play and a goal by Aleksander Ivovic with 2:09 left in the fourth quarter. U.S. captain Tony Azevedo scored a goal shortly after a timeout, putting the US back-up by two-goals. Montenegro scored with just 46 seconds to go but it wasn’t enough to defeat the US.
The Men’s water polo team will face Romania on Tuesday.
