| Katrina Kaif Visits Dargah Sharif In Ajmer |
Katrina Kaif visited the holy shrine of Sufi saint Khawaja Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer on Wednesday, August 1, to pray for the success of her upcoming film 'Ek Tha Tiger.'
The 27-year-old is first Bollywood celeb to visit the shrine after the controversy stirred by Dargah Diwan Zainul Abedin Ali Khan's recent criticism of film star visits to the Dargah.
She reportedly tied a red thread wishing success for her and Salman Khan's film and prayed inside for ten minutes, reports PTI.
Dargah priest, Qubuddin Sakhi, confirmed her visit in the early morning hours of the day to avoid the Ramazan crowds.
"She spent around ten minutes inside the dargah."
She also untied a red thread from a mannat from a previous visit.
Katrina is reportedly in the area to shoot for a commercial and had arrived there the previous night.
The Dargah Dewan had issued a statement last month objecting to Bollywood stars visiting the holy place.
"Dance and films are taboo in Islam. Cinema today, in general, is promoting obscenity, which is a major reason behind the rapid degradation of moral values in the society. Film stars come here repeatedly to seek blessings for their films and, in the process, promote their film through the media. Such kind of promotion of their work at the religious place is highly intolerable."
Qutubuddin Sakhi, Dargah's Khadim, had disagreed with Khan and called his statement a gimmick for publicity. He said that Bollywood celebrities, who have been coming to pray and seek blessings of Khwaja Saheb for the past 23 years, come for blessings not publicity.
