Taylor Swift's Anguish over Her Parents Separation Will Reflect in Her New Album |
According to a Star magazine source, Swift's parents, Andrea and Scott, split a while back after 25 years of marriage, and the 22-year-old singer is heartbroken..
"She's been going through a lot," a family friend informs Star. "The new album will showcase the pain of her parents' separation."
The split took place within the last two years, but Taylor's mom and dad have been discrete about their marital differences so as not to let them affect their daughter's career.
According to the source, they haven't filed for divorce but have stopped wearing their wedding rings.
Ironically, Swift's career may have caused the strain between her parents.
"Andrea being on tour with Taylor full-time has really been hard on her relationship with Scott," says the source. "Taylor's dad travels with them a lot less than he used to."
Swift has done her best to keep her parents happy and together; she bought a $2.5 million house for them last August.
Asked recently to describe the lyrics she had penned for the new album, Swift said: "They're sad, if I'm being honest."
In the past Swift has said the album will dwell on 'achieving contentment.'
Speaking to the February issue of Vogue magazine, she hinted there would a song on her two month romance with Jake Gyllenhaal towards the end of 2010.
"There's just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak and that will turn out to be what the next album is about. The only way that I can feel better about myself -- pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone -- is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity."
