Jessica Simpson's baby girl made a short appearance in a designer dress at her birthday party. Jessica - who became a first-time mother to Maxwell Drew on May 1 - enjoyed her 32nd birthday on Tuesday (09.07.12) during a backyard dinner party with fiance Eric Johnson.

A source told website People.com: "Jessica was in heaven because she was celebrating for the first time as a mum! And Maxwell got to make a short appearance in her Fendi white dress. Eric made a wonderful toast." Party guests included Jessica's parents, her sister Ashlee Simpson, Ashlee's son Bronx, and her best friend Cacee Cobb.

Rachel Ashwell of Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic Couture designed the party decor, complete with vintage china, tons of candles, fresh flowers and a chandelier above the star's covered swimming pool. Despite being on a strict diet regime as part of her role as a Weight Watchers ambassador, Jessica provided plenty of delicious food for guests.

Attendees dined on gnocchi with brown butter sage and pappardelle with yellow tomato sauce, as well as short ribs with basil pesto pecorino and chili and pan-seared snapper. Instead of a traditional birthday cake, mini s'mores, pudding pies in mini mason jars and banana brown betties with ginger snap crumble was served.

The home setting was a meaningful one as Jessica met Eric there in 2010 and he proposed there six months later.
