USA Women take Gold in London |
It was a rematch of last year’s Wold Cup final, which saw Japan come out on top. This game, held in famed Wembley Stadium, was all about redemption for Team USA. A chance to come away as the best and with a Gold Medal. “They snatched our dream last summer,” U.S. midfielder Megan Rapinoe said. “And this kind of feels like the nightmare turned back around.”
From start to finsh the 2-1 Victory by team USA was a great game, well played, with every ounce of grit and determination each team could muster. Carli Lloyd scored both goals for team USA, the second straight Gold-Medal match in which she’s done so.
Afterwards nearly every player grabbed an American flag and basked in the glory of their accomplishment. Soccer legend, Abby Wambach, stood all alone and sobbed into her flag, showing us once again, what it means to be an Olympic Champion.
Thank you Team USA for providing us with a fantastic tournament and for showing young girls around the country that you can be physical, determined, athletic and courageous all in the name of Sport. And achieve your goals.
