Salman Khan is set to make history by plugging his film Ek Tha Tiger personally in Pakistan. The actor is planning to visit the country along with director Kabir Khan, after Pakistan banned the film's theatrical trailer from airing in the country.
The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority issued a letter last week to all their satellite TV channels and cable networks to not air Ek Tha Tiger because the film is based on the activities of ISI and RAW. They presume the film does not show ISI in good taste.
Earlier in the day Kabir wrote on his Twitter:
"In this day and age... its stupid to make films that are insensitive or derogatory to any country or community..."
Khan told TOI:
"It's disturbing for Ek Tha Tiger to be perceived as an anti-Pakistan film. But it isn't surprising. Look at the cheap jingoistic anti-Pakistan films that have released over the years. We can't really blame them if they perceive Ek Tha Tiger as one such film."
Asked about reports that the duo plan to visit Pakistan to promote the film, Kabir said,
"Neither Salman nor I have ever visited Pakistan. So why not? We are willing to do anything that's required to make Pakistanis believe that our project is not against them. I don't think the trailer being banned is a big deal. Once the film releases, the truth will be out."
Kabir has been campaigning on his Twitter since May that the film is not anti-Pakistan:
"Hv been getting lots of tweets from ppl thinking ETT is anti Pak. Let me say this once & for all... NO ETT IS NOT ANTI PAK." He wrote on May 16.
