| Ranbir Kapoor's Latest With Abhinav Kashyap Hits Roadblock |
The Dabangg director, who is also the co-producer of the film, reportedly wanted 75% of the profits which is not acceptable to Studio 18 management.
"Abhinav wanted 75% of the profit of the film which the studio officials felt was not reasonable as he was already getting a remuneration. The film would have gone very high on budget so they had to back out. Now Abhinav is looking for another producer to take on his film," a source close to the project told Mid-Day.
Abhinav was signed up by Studio 18 soon after he opted out of the Dabangg sequel headlining Salman Khan, but the script and star cast were both finalized recently.
The production house has not closed the deal entirely, though.
"It is not as if the deal is closed from our end. We are still discussing it. Abhinav is close to the production house's CEO Vikram Malhotra. They feel that Abhinav is being unreasonable, as the production house does not believe in buying big bugdet films. However since Abhinav feels the film will have huge profits and he has a star like Ranbir, he deserves the price. So the matter is right now at a standstill," says a source from the production house.
Ranbir has committed his dates to two back-to-back projects by the Kashyap brothers. Abhinav's Besharam is to be followed by filming of Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet.
And they say it's stars who are difficult!
