Sanjay Leela Bhansali is replacing Kareena Kapoor with Priyanka Chopra in Ram Leela opposite Ranveer Singh, because Sanjay does not want his heroine to be married until the release of the film.
"Sanjay has reportedly laid down a condition to Kareena, telling her that she should defer her October 2012 wedding by a year, if she wanted to be in his film with Ranveer Singh," a source who is an actor told TOI.
The film, a passionate love story, is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet, and Kareena promoting the film as a married woman is not appropriate for Sanjay's project.
However, oblivious to these developments Kareena has recently given a statement saying, "I will start shooting with Bhansali in September, and complete it by March 2013. I am excited to be paired opposite Ranveer for the first time. I've waited for a long time to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. One Bhansali project is good for my roster."
Priyanka, who is travelling abroad currently for her music album, reportedly has been negotiating with Bhansali for the past three weeks. Now her dates have been worked out.
Could Priyanka Chopra's recent visit to Kareena on the Heroine set have something to do with this? Iron out problems in anticipation maybe?
In any case, whoever gets the lead in a Bhansali films can consider herself lucky!
