Groom Saif Ali Khan's mother Sharmila Tagore has stepped up to clear all rumors initiated by son Saif about his wedding to Kareena Kapoor being postponed to winter. She confirms what she said earlier - wedding is on October 16, but graciously wants the girl's parents to choose the venue.
"I am giving a warning to Saif. I am confirming that the wedding will take place on October 16," Sharmila told Mid-Day.
The reports of going to Bhopal to decide the date/venue are wrong, says the matriarch.
"There is no point going to Bhopal during Ramazan. I will go after Eid, Inshaallah."
As for the venue:
"The venue will be Pataudi or Mumbai. With Tiger passing away we want a very quiet wedding. Saif Miyan is the busiest man on the planet. He wants to do wedding in Pataudi but apparently Kareena's parents want it in Mumbai," says the mom-in-law to be.
"Shaadi to ladki ke ghar se hi honi chahiye. Dabboo ji will decide on the wedding venue."
"But whatever it is the wedding will be in October," she says without any hesitation. Otherwise everything is going very smoothly, she added.
She took the opportunity to once again confirm Bebo will wear the royal joda and jewelry that she wore for her wedding.
Sharmila is already thinking far ahead, but leaves the decisions to the new couple whether Kareena should convert to Islam and have a nikah ceremony too.
"If later on they want they can do the nikah. There may be problems when they have kids as problems of inheritance will come up. Anyways, Saif's son Ibrahim is a Muslim as Amrita converted to Islam during their marriage. But we cannot force anyone to convert, and when you are in love you should do what your heart says."
