David Beckham closes the London 2012 Opening Ceremony

David Beckham joined Samantha Cameron and athletes Sir Chris Hoy, Sir Steve Redgrave and Tom Daley at the Olympics Opening Ceremony.

Having been involved in the London 2012 Olympics from the start, it was only fitting that David Beckham closed the spectacular Opening Ceremony, and the dapper dad did it in style.Zooming down the Thames on a speedboat, David transferred the Olympic flame to gold medalist Sir Steve Redgrave, who passed the flame to young British athletes to light the cauldron.The starry night saw Kenneth Branagh, JK Rowling, Dizzie Rascal and Rowan Atkinson perform in the ceremony, and Team GB athletes including Sir Chris Hoy and diving hopeful Tom Daley close the procession, which was watched by Samantha Cameron and the Royal family.
